Everyone saw a terrible investment. Army veteran Zachary Leyden saw what Ocean View Stables could become.
Driving along the California coast, Zachary noticed a run-down horse property near San Francisco. When he bought it, the barn was falling down, makeshift structures needed replacing, and the site required extensive cleanup.
People warned him he would lose his money.
In this clip from The MisFitNation, Zachary explains how he and his wife, Kalea, spent nearly two years clearing and rebuilding the property—and how some of the same people who questioned the purchase later called it a gem.
His story brings the work behind entrepreneurship into focus: seeing potential, developing a plan, and following through when the project looks overwhelming.
Today, Ocean View Stables offers coastal horseback riding and horsemanship, with veterans welcomed to ride free.
