When Cory Gold first started building Worth Their Weight, he was going door to door in Chattanooga telling people about his mission to help veterans.
Then one organization became the first to step up.
The Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center donated passes that Cory could give to veterans—making it the first organization to contribute anything to Worth Their Weight.
In this clip from The MisFitNation Show, U.S. Army veteran Cory Gold tells Rich LaMonica about that early moment of support and his connection to Chattanooga’s Medal of Honor community.
Cory also recalls living near downtown Chattanooga when the city hosted the annual gathering of Medal of Honor recipients and suddenly seeing police escorts moving through the city.
What looked like an emergency at first turned out to be something completely different:
America’s Medal of Honor recipients were being welcomed and honored.
The story captures two missions that intersect around service, sacrifice, and veteran support.
The Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center works to preserve the legacy of Medal of Honor recipients and educate future generations about courage, integrity, sacrifice, commitment, patriotism, and citizenship.
Worth Their Weight is working to help veterans find the benefits, programs, organizations, and resources that fit their needs.
Sometimes a growing mission starts because one organization is willing to believe in it before everyone else does.
