On this episode of The MisFitNation, host Rich LaMonica welcomes Eddie Hutchinson, retired US Army aviator, former UH-60 Black Hawk pilot, and founder of UseRECON.
Eddie enlisted in 1996, began as an airborne Soldier at Fort Bragg, earned induction into the Audie Murphy Club, and later served as a Sergeant First Class Platoon Sergeant with multiple deployments supporting operations in Pakistan and Iraq. He went on to flight school at Fort Rucker, becoming a Black Hawk pilot and deploying again to Iraq and Afghanistan in key aviation leadership roles.
After 20 years of service, Eddie transitioned to real estate — and quickly saw a problem. Military families were repeatedly losing hard-earned equity during PCS moves. Instead of accepting the system, he built a better one.
That solution became UseRECON and RECON Real Estate — structured platforms designed to protect equity, reduce unnecessary costs, and give military families clarity in tough markets.
In this episode, we discuss:
• Leadership under unpredictable conditions
• Transitioning from aviation combat roles to entrepreneurship
• Protecting military family equity
• Building disciplined systems that actually work
• Applying military structure to civilian business
This is a conversation about service beyond the uniform — and building systems that protect families.
