Combat Medic: These Are the FIRST 2 Items Your Medical Kit Needs

If a combat medic had to choose the first two items for an emergency medical kit, what would make the cut?

Patrick Thibeault’s answer:

🩸 #1 — Tourniquets
🩹 #2 — An Israeli/pressure dressing

But Patrick adds something even more important:

Don’t just buy them. Train with them.

He recommends having a tourniquet available for an actual emergency AND another specifically for practice.

The same goes for pressure dressings.

The first time you open lifesaving medical equipment should not be while someone is seriously bleeding and you’re trying to figure out how it works.

Patrick brings decades of experience as an Army combat medic, Desert Storm and Afghanistan veteran, ICU nurse, and Family Nurse Practitioner to this conversation about practical preparedness.
