Founder & Ceo of Miramar Health
A US Naval Academy graduate and 18-year Navy and Marine Corps Veteran, Tom Sauer's passion for behavioral health stems from his father's death by methamphetamine overdose, after a long struggle with mental illness and addiction.
After his father’s death in 1999, Tom enlisted in the Marines, later becoming a Naval Officer and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) expert. As an EOD Officer, he led teams in locating and countering terrorist nuclear weapons and deployed as the Western Pacific’s Crisis Response Force. He directed Humanitarian Mine Actions in Nepal and collaborated on war plans with Pacific partners.
Now, as a former Navy Lieutenant Commander, Tom focuses on addressing the mental health, addiction, and suicide crisis among Veterans, leading Miramar Health to provide critical support. He holds degrees from the US Naval Academy, UCLA, and the National University of Singapore, and resides in Orange County, California.
